Why does getting fit take so long to show on the outside?!!!

I started this blog and Instagram account because I wanted to use social media to keep a record of my progress.  I am progressing...not by much though, or that's how it feels.
As much as I love Instagram, perhaps it isn't the right place for me right now.  Maybe Facebook is more my demographic.... I sense that Facebook is more for discussion and Instagram for showing results.  My glacial pace progress doesn't make for riveting images I'm afraid!
Despite that, I'm quite happy with how I'm travelling at the moment...I've lost 5cm off my waist and nearly 4.5kg in weight.  Perhaps one of the reasons my weightloss isn't happening as fast as it has previously, is that I'm in Perimenopause.  I really think it does make it more difficult to lose weight...but not impossible!  Consistency is key here.
I have been a chronic dieter in the past and like it is for many people, it wasn't sustainable.  I'm doing things a little differently this time around.  I'm not eating in a huge deficit, I'm trying to give myself more calories to support recovery and muscle building.  Although I'm not dropping over a kilo a week like I have in the past, I'm dropping at a steady rate and more importantly, it's not difficult.  I'm not craving extra food, or junk food.  I'm still including a special meal once a week, this week was a glass or red wine with cheese and crackers.  It was so enjoyable!  And I didn't go crazy either.
Some part of me is so impatient for more visible results...but I'm also pleased that I feel I can keep doing this for a long time yet.
